BERTHING, DIRECTIONS, and ADDITIONAL INFO


 

BEQ/BOQ Reservations:  Call the BEQ/BOQ to make your reservation for 11-14 Sep, MLTS 2008 Symposium, Group Number 10234.  BOQ/BEQ Phone:  (401) 841-7900

 

Uniforms:  Service Khaki for E-7 and above; Summer White or Service Dress White for E-6 and below.

 

Taxi Info:  If you don’t have a rental car, taxi service through “Cozy Cab” is available from the Providence RI airport (PVD) for approx $20 each way.  They have a counter at the airport and can also be reached at (800) 846-1502.  Have “Cozy Cab” drop you off at CBQ-HQ (Bldg 1312).  If not, it’s a long walk from the gate.

 

Driving Directions to Naval Station:  For directions and a map, go to www.googlemaps.com click “get directions.”  Enter “PVD” for start, and “Naval Station, Newport, RI, 02841” for end. Otherwise:  Leave PVD airport on Airport Connector Road. Follow signs for I-95 South (to New York). Merge onto I-95 S via ramp to New York. Go approx 5.3 miles.  (Watch for signs N. Kingstown/RI-4 S). Take a slight left at RI-4 S. Go approx 10 miles.  Make a slight right at Tower Hill Rd/US-1 S.  Go approx. 0.7 miles. Merge onto RI-138 E via ramp to Jamestown/Newport Bridges. Go on RI-138 E approx. 9.2 miles.  You’ll cross over the Jamestown Bridge and then the Claiborne Pell Bridge (NOTE: $2.00 toll for the Pell Bridge). Take the RI-283 S exit toward Scenic Newport. Turn right at JT Connell Hwy/RI-138A/RI-238. Turn Right at Van Zandt Ave. Turn right at 3rd Street. Turn left at Training Station Rd. Proceed to Gate 1.

 

Base Security:  Pass and ID are at Gate 1.  All cars without DoD stickers will require a Base Pass.

 

Check in and Berthing:  All berthing check in will be at CBQ-Headquarters (Bldg 1312). (See base map).  Assigned “Q” will be at various locations on base after check in at CBQ-HQ. We’ll try to provide rides if necessary, but if you arrive after 2000 Friday, a several minute walk maybe required.

 

MLTS Registration:  A registration table will be set up from 1300-2000 Thursday (11 Sept) in the CBQ‑HQ lobby.  After that, registration will be at the MLTS Conference facility.

 

MLTS Conference Facility: All sessions will be at NJS School BLDG 360 auditorium with registration and refreshments in Midge's Kitchen.  Note: Absolutely NO food or drinks other than water with a cover lid are allowed in the auditorium.

 

Meals:  Meals are available at Ney Hall Galley or local dining facilities NEX/Enlisted Club or local restaurants just outside the gate and close to the base.

 

Refreshment Fee:  A fee of $5.00/person is suggested for those who wish to enjoy light refreshments during the MLTS sessions.  The $5 fee will be collected at registration and is used to offset cost of procuring items for attendees.

 

Friday Icebreaker:  6:30 pm - Cash Bar and Menu - Topside Pub (located in the Officers' Club).  Attendees must be in appropriate civilian attire (no sweats, t-shirts, tank-tops, jeans, no shorts or flip flops for men, etc.).
